Socially Responsible Investment (SRI)
Socially Responsible Investment, alternatively known as social impact investing or social investing, is an approach to investment that strives to generate market-based financial returns but in a manner designed to enhance social returns at the same time. SRI, ESG and CSR are also acronyms that focus on taking social responsibility (cf.). Socially responsible investors will avoid investing in fossil fuels, tobacco, alcohol, firearms and gambling, and will focus on companies and sectors that can demonstrate social responsibility.
