Just Transition
A just transition refers to the process of shifting from a carbon-intensive economy to a low-carbon, sustainable economy which mitigates climate change and promotes biodiversity, while ensuring that affected workers, communities, and regions are not left behind, either socially or economically. It aims to create new job opportunities, promote social equity, and support economic diversification in areas dependent on fossil fuels, all the while enabling proper dialogue with those affected, as well as respect for basic labour rights and principles.
