Zero Waste to Landfill
Zero waste to landfill is a waste management strategy that aims to eliminate the disposal of waste materials in landfills. Despite the name, not all waste can actually be disposed of outside of landfill and so some will still end up there; it is often said therefore that the aim should be to divert at least 99% of waste from landfills. The strategy involves reusing, recycling, and composting, as well as diverting waste to other alternatives, such as waste-to-energy, or energy recovery, facilities, all in order to achieve a more sustainable waste management system.
