Waste-to-Energy
Waste-to-energy (WtE) is a form of energy recovery, the process of which involves generating energy, in the form of electricity or heat, from the treatment and combustion of waste materials. Alternatively, the waste can also be used to produce fuel sources such as methane and ethanol. WtE technologies can help reduce the volume of waste sent to landfills and provide a source of renewable energy, but may also produce emissions of their own which could raise concerns about air quality.
