Global Warming
Global warming is the long-term increase in Earth's average surface temperature that has taken place since the pre-industrial period of the 19th century, primarily due to the accumulation of greenhouse gases, such as carbon dioxide, methane, and nitrous oxide, in the atmosphere. These gases trap heat from the sun, which results in the warming of the planet, which is called the greenhouse effect. Human activities including the burning of fossil fuels, deforestation, and industrial processes all contribute to global warming. There can also be severe consequences of this process such as rising sea levels leading to flooding, droughts, extreme weather events, and damage to ecosystems.
