Financial Year

A company’s financial year, also known as its fiscal year, is the 12-month period that covers its accounting year, at the end of which it will prepare its annual financial statements (cf.) and file its tax return. While many companies have financial years that coincide with the calendar year, there are no hard and fast rules that determine when a company’s financial years should begin.
