Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR)
Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) refers to the process of deliberately removing carbon dioxide (CO2) from the atmosphere via human activities such as reforestation, ocean fertilisation, soil carbon sequestration, and direct air capture. The removed CO2 is stored in long-term reservoirs, such as geological formations, soils, biomass, and man-made products. The process can help to offset greenhouse gas emissions, mitigate climate change, and support the achievement of global climate goals.
