Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS)
Carbon Capture, Utilisation, and Storage (CCUS) is an approach that involves capturing carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from large point sources, such as power plants and industrial facilities, and either storing them in geological formations or, distinguishing this process from regular Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS), feeding them back into manufacturing systems to use in the creation of useful products, such as chemicals, fuels, or building materials. CCUS aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, mitigate climate change, and create new economic opportunities through the sustainable use of captured CO2.
