Carbon Accounting
Carbon accounting is the process of measuring and tracking the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and removals associated with the activities, such as energy consumption, transportation, and land-use change, of a business or organisation. It provides a basis for understanding the sources and sinks of GHGs, informing climate change mitigation and adaptation strategies, and monitoring progress towards emissions reduction targets, both in terms of legal requirements and social responsibility. Carbon accounting can be applied at various different scales, from individual projects to national inventories.
