Bioenergy
Bioenergy is a form of renewable energy derived from organic materials, such as wood, crops, algae, and animal waste, known collectively as biomass, which is converted via combustion and chemical or biochemical processes, the latter of these including natural activities like anaerobic digestion and fermentation. Bioenergy can be used in a number of areas, including heating, electricity, producing fuels, and creating products such as plastics. Offering an alternative to fossil fuels, it can contribute to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and the diversification of energy sources.
